Nigerian Footballers Abroad

Sanusi, Amoo, Nwakaeme, Osigwe, Rangers trio, and other Nigerian players who ended the season with a trophy

The 2021/22 season is rounding up across Europe, while it was not a good football year for Nigeria, it was for a host of Nigerian players plying their trades abroad.

The Super Eagles losing to rivals Black Stars of Ghana and failing to secure a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup was a big letdown especially when the team showed no character over two playoff games.

Seeing the nucleus of the Super Eagles players turn in splendid displays for the European clubs brings back their failure to make the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

One wonders what they would have actually done should they had a proper coach who understands football and knows how to get the best out of the boys.

Apart from a few leagues yet to round up there are two big cup finals left to be played and fortunately a Nigerian could end up in the history book.

The Europa Conference League final will see Nigeria’s Cyriel Dessers and Feyenoord go up against Roma’s Jose Mourinho and Tammy Abraham.

Cyriel Dessers with 10 goals could become the top scorer of the maiden Europa Conference League, and Tammy Abraham with 9 goals could also end up the top scorer.

Jose Mourinho could become the first-ever manager to win the title and the first to win all three European Club Competitions titles (Champions League, Europa/UEFA Cup, and Europa Conference League).

The other final is the UEFA Champions League involving Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Away from this, here is the recap of the Super Eagles or Nigerian players who won a trophy or more with their European clubs.
