Scholes: Why Solskjaer hardly gives Ighalo playing time
Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes has confirmed what fans have been saying about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer treatment of Odion Ighalo.
The club legend revealed why he felt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t give playing time to the Nigerian even when the players on the pitch needed to be substituted.
Odion Ighalo started just one of Manchester United last 11 games which was the club’s 2-1 win against LASK in the Europa League.
He played a total of 56 minutes in seven games and was an unused sub in three games, in fact, he only played just one minute club’s last game of the season which was their biggest of the season.
This made a furious Paul Scholes to state the obvious after watching his old side bow out 2-1 to Sevilla in the Europa League semifinal clash on Sunday.
“I don’t see it with this squad [closing the gap with Liverpool] they need to strengthen.
“You look at the bench tonight.. he’s got Ighalo and brings him on last.
“He hasn’t got confidence in him.”
Odion Ighalo took a pay-cut to sign a long term loan deal with Manchester United his boy-hood club but this may have look like a bad decision football wise as he continued to be ignored.
