Senegal Makes History with Comeback Win Against Brazil, Led by Mane’s Double

Sadio Mane showcased his brilliance on the field as the Teranga Lions of Senegal staged a remarkable comeback, defeating the Selecao of Brazil 4-2 in an enthralling international friendly held on Tuesday.

It was the Brazilians who drew first blood, with Europa Conference League victor Lucas Paqueta finding the back of the net. However, Habib Diallo, representing West Ham, swiftly equalized for Senegal in the 22nd minute, just 11 minutes after Brazil’s opener.

The first 45 minutes concluded with a well-fought 1-1 draw, but in the second half, Senegal truly made their mark.

In the 52nd minute, Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos inadvertently scored an own goal, granting Senegal a 2-1 advantage. Just three minutes later, Mane delivered a sensational bending shot to further extend his team’s lead.

Marquinhos, eager to redeem himself after his blunder, found redemption with a powerful strike, narrowing the deficit to a single goal.

The star-studded Selecao intensified their efforts in search of an equalizer, but it was the Teranga Lions who had the last laugh. Mane completed his brace with a clinical penalty, sealing the 4-2 victory for Senegal.

This defeat marks another setback for Brazil, as they suffer a second loss to an African team within a span of six months. Previously, they fell 1-0 to Cameroon and 2-1 to Morocco during the World Cup and a friendly match, respectively.

In fact, Senegal’s remarkable triumph against Brazil solidifies their place in history. They become the only team in the last 11 years to come from behind and defeat the mighty Selecao.
