Serie A: Gasperini Hails In-form Lookman After Juventus Draw
Atalanta coach Gian Pierro Gasperini has hailed Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman’s performance against Juventus on Sunday.
Lookman scored a brace and recorded an assist in the 3-3 draw on Sunday to continue his recent impressive run of form.
He has scored a brace in each of his last three games.
“Lookman had an extraordinary performance. We conceded two goals in the first half by losing the ball pretty cheaply, and those are situations where we should’ve been more careful,” Gasperini told DAZN.
Gasperini also reserved special praise for his players for their performance against Juventus.
“We always had character and quality, even in games where the results were a bit like tonight. I saw a definite growth from the start of the season, partly because of the freshness and personality of these lads who arrived. If you come to Turin just to defend, you will probably lose on a penalty or free kick. I always believe you need to score goals in these games or you don’t get a result.”
Atalanta occupy the fifth position in the Serie A with 35 points.
Lookman will hope to continue his stunning form when Atalanta hosts Sampdoria on Sunday.
