Sevilla Coach Pimienta Speaks on Iheanacho’s Future and Akor Adams’ Fitness

Sevilla head coach García Pimienta has provided an update on the future of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho while also sharing fitness news on their new signing, Akor Adams.

Iheanacho joined Sevilla from Leicester City on a free transfer last summer, but his time in Spain has been challenging. The 28-year-old is yet to score in La Liga, and with Akor Adams now in the squad, his departure seems likely.

Speaking ahead of Sevilla’s goalless draw against Getafe, Pimienta confirmed that Iheanacho has multiple offers and is free to decide his next move.

“Kelechi Iheanacho has a lot of offers and the freedom to choose where he wants to go. The deal will be finalised as soon as all parties are satisfied,” Pimienta told El Correo.

Meanwhile, Adams made his debut against Getafe, coming off the bench in the 81st minute but failing to score. Pimienta stressed that the Nigerian forward needs time to adapt to Sevilla’s playing style.

“Akor Adams needs to understand our way of training and playing. He is eager and motivated, which is a good sign,” the coach said.

“He has already shown his quality in France, but his success here will depend on his performance. If there are injuries or dips in form, he must be ready to step up.”

Sevilla are currently 11th in La Liga, four points away from the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification spots.
