Sevilla manager hails Kelechi Iheanacho’s quality despite slow start to life in Spain
Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta has expressed his confidence in Kelechi Iheanacho, backing the Nigerian striker to regain top form and play a key role for the club this season.
Since joining Sevilla on a free transfer from Leicester City, Kelechi Iheanacho has had a slow start, making only two league appearances and remaining an unused substitute in last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Getafe.
Pimienta attributed Iheanacho’s early struggles to fatigue following his return from international duty but remains optimistic about the striker’s potential impact.
Speaking ahead of Sevilla’s upcoming match against Alaves, Pimienta said, “Iheanacho has been with us all week and is doing well. He didn’t play last week because he had only recently returned from international duty and was tired from all the flying.”
Despite this slow start, Pimienta is confident Iheanacho will soon show his quality: “But he’s a great player, and we have full faith in him. He brings quality and can take his chance when it comes.”
Sevilla fans are hopeful that the 27-year-old, affectionately known as “senior man,” will soon replicate the impressive form he displayed during his time at Leicester City and help drive the team to success this season.
