Sevilla parts ways with Super Falcons star Toni Payne

Few hours after Nigeria Super Eagles star Chidera Ejuke joined Sevilla, the Spanish club parted ways with another Nigerian footballer, Toni Payne.

This time, it is the Sevilla Women’s team with information concerning Super Falcons of Nigeria star Toni Payne.

Spanish Femenino club Sevilla have announced the departure of Nigerian player Toni Payne.

Payne leaves the Spanish club after six years of distinguished service, during which time she rose to international recognition.

The 29-year-old winger joined Sevilla from Dutch side Ajax in 2018. During her time with the Rojiblancos, Payne scored 30 goals and provided 20 assists in 181 appearances across all competitions.

Born to Nigerian parents in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, Payne initially represented the United States at youth level before switching her allegiance to Nigeria. She has since made 14 appearances for the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s national team.

Payne is expected to be part of the Super Falcons squad for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The Nigerian team, led by coach Randy Waldrum, will face a challenging group stage, competing against world champions Spain, Japan, and Brazil. They will begin their campaign against Brazil in Bordeaux, followed by matches against Spain and Japan in Nantes.
