Shock as Stanley Nwabali Loses His Mother Weeks after his Father’s Demise

Super Eagles and Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is mourning the loss of his mother. The South Africa-based player shared the sad news on social media on New Year’s Day.

“RIP mom, worst year of my life already,” Nwabali wrote, along with tears and heartbreak emojis. “A very very crazy world indeed,” he added before announcing the tragic news.

This heartbreaking loss comes less than two months after Nwabali lost his father. His father’s passing was announced in November, shortly after he played for the Super Eagles in their 1-1 draw with Benin Republic in a 2025 AFCON qualification match.

While Nwabali has not revealed the cause of his mother’s death, her passing is likely a huge shock, especially as he had shared a hopeful recap of his 2024 earlier that day. “2024 was a good year, we’re doubling everything in 2025. Thank you Chippa United FC. Thank you Super Eagles. Thanks to all my fans. Let’s do more!” he had posted.
