Shooting Stars face IMC wrath after staff urinates on pitch

Oluyole Warriors slapped with 500k fine

NPFL outfit Shooting Stars have been punished by the Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Premier Football League following an incident prior to the NPFL23 Matchday Nine clash on February 19th. The Oluyole Warriors have become the third team to fall under the IMC’s hammer this season.

In a game that ended 2-2 between Shooting Stars and Akwa United, it was an incident that took place outside of the game that received much media scrutiny. The Ibadan-based club’s Camp Commandant, one Auwal Mohammed, was spotted and photographed as he urinated on the pitch before the commencement of the match.

As a result of his action, the IMC has decided to fine the Oluyole Warriors the sum of #500,000. The offender, Mohammed, has also been banned from any NPFL activities for the next 12 months. The Commandant was accused of bringing the game to disrepute by his actions, which were both unhygienic and disgraceful.

Shooting Stars have now joined Bayelsa United and El-Kanemi Warriors in falling foul of IMC regulations this season. The Oluyole Warriors will restart their season against Akwa United when the league resumes in the last week of March.
