Shorunmu reveals why Obasi was dropped in 2014, challenges him to show proof of ‘bribe for spot’

Ike Shorunmu has asked Chinedu Obasi to bring evidence showing the late Stephen Keshi led technical crew demanded a bribe from him before he could be included in the 2014 Super Eagles world cup squad.

The former Nigeria international goalie who was part of the late Stephen Keshi’s back room staff revealed that the then Schalke 04 forward was dropped due to injury and not because he refused to pay any bribe.

In fact, the former Beşiktaş goalie expressed shock as to why Chinedu Obasi didn’t conplain when a player was dropped for him in 2010.

Ike Shorunmu while speaking with Brila, also questioned Chinedu Obasi’s timing of revealing the ‘bribe for spot’story that he would have accused the deceased while he was alive.

“Everyone has their own perspectives, a lot of things will happen when you are coaching at the highest level and for sure there was pressure from all angle”.

“However a player was dropped for Obasi in 2010 World Cup, he did not have any problem with that, now that he was dropped in 2014, he started talking.”

“Some players only think for themselves and not for others, in 2014 Obasi was injured and was just coming back from the serious injury. If he has evidence that they demanded money from him, he should come forward and present it.”

“But why can’t he while Keshi is still alive, so they can face each other.”
