Sierra Leone Vs Nigeria: Ndidi, Iheanacho, Onyeka get call-ups, clubs announce
While the official confirmation of invited Super Eagles players for the AFCON qualifiers vs Sierra Leone rests with the Nigeria Football Federation, call-ups for Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Frank Onyeka has been announced by their clubs.
With 9-days to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nation qualification match scheduled to hold at the Samuel Kanyon Sports Complex in Liberia, the list of invited Super Eagles players has not been revealed to the public.
However, in line with FIFA rules, clubs of invited players have been notified of their players involvements.
Leicester City have officially confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho have been invited for the game, same as Frank Onyeka whose invitation was announced on Brentford’s official website on Thursday June 8.
The duo of Ndidi and Iheanacho suffered Premier League relegation at the end of the season with the Foxes but that will have no effects on their international futures.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s opponents for the game on June 18 Sierra Leone have since unveiled a 38-man provisional squad for the game.
Head Coach of the Super Eagles Jose Peseiro through the NFF will hopefully make available the list of invited players this weekend before the team hits camp in Lagos in preparation for the game.
A point vs Sierra Leone will seal Nigeria’s qualification for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament with a home game Vs Sao Tome and Principe to spare.
