Simy nets goal number 20 as relegated Crotone draws against Benevento
Equals personal goal tally from Serie B last season
Simy Nwankwo was on the scoresheet for Crotone as they played out a 1-1 draw away to fellow relegated side, Benevento in their penultimate Italian Serie A match of the season.
Former AC Milan striker, Gianluca Lapadula opened the scoring for Benevento in the 13th minute of the encounter and thought that his goal had given Benevento a chance of beating the drop before Simy Nwankwo struck in the 90th minute of the tie to ensure that the points were shared evenly between both sides, and effectively ensuring that Benevento return to the Serie B next season.
Simy Nwankwo has been one of the best strikers in the league as he became the first African striker to score 20 goals in the Serie A since Samuel Eto’o scored 21 for Inter Milan in the 2010/11 season. The lanky striker also equalled his personal best tally of 20 goals from last season in the Serie B. There is a strong likelihood that the 28 year old will not go down with Crotone due to his impressive goalscoring feats.
