Slot Warns Liverpool Defence Must Stop Osimhen in Champions League Clash

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has warned that his team must be ready to deal with Victor Osimhen when they face Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday night.

The Turkish club will host the first leg of the knockout tie at Rams Park in Istanbul, with both sides hoping to gain an early advantage in the race for a place in the quarter-finals.

Liverpool arrive with a strong and experienced squad, but Galatasaray will look to their star striker Osimhen to make the difference.

The Nigerian forward has been outstanding in the Champions League this season. He has already scored seven goals and provided two assists in eight matches in the competition.

Osimhen also scored against Liverpool during the group stage in September. His goal helped Galatasaray secure a 1–0 victory, a result that caused serious problems for Liverpool’s defence.

Galatasaray fans will be hoping the striker can repeat that performance. However, Slot believes his defenders are now better prepared to face the Super Eagles star.

Speaking ahead of the match, the Liverpool manager admitted that Osimhen remains the biggest attacking threat in the Galatasaray team.

“Galatasaray has many weapons, especially in the transition game… In that sense, Osimhen is the first name that comes to mind,” Slot said.

“He is lethal in the penalty area and dominant in aerial duels. He excels in counter-attacks and transitions.”

Slot also revealed that Liverpool have prepared a clear plan to deal with the Nigerian striker.

“We have taken special precautions, and the advantage we have now is that our centre-backs have faced him before,” he added.

The match is also a special moment for Galatasaray, as it is the first time in 12 years that a Turkish club has reached the Champions League Round of 16.

With Osimhen leading the attack for the home side and Liverpool bringing their own quality players, fans can expect an exciting and competitive encounter in Istanbul.
