Southampton Boss Jurić Praises Onuachu After Draw with Crystal Palace

Southampton manager Ivan Jurić has praised Paul Onuachu for his performance in their 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at St. Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Saints were close to securing their third Premier League win of the season, but Matheus França equalised for Crystal Palace in stoppage time with a flicked header, denying them all three points.

Onuachu Ends Palace’s Clean Sheet Run

Onuachu put Southampton ahead in the 20th minute, rising high to score a towering header into the bottom corner. His goal ended Crystal Palace’s impressive run of eight consecutive clean sheets in all competitions.

The Nigerian striker had two more chances to double the lead before half-time but was unable to capitalise on a loose Palace pass and an overhit cross from Kyle Walker-Peters.

Despite the late setback, Onuachu’s physical presence and link-up play stood out, earning praise from his manager.

Jurić: “Onuachu Was Really Good”

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Jurić said:

“Onuachu was really good. When he is full of energy, he can be really good. He did good work.”

Onuachu Finding His Feet in the Premier League

After going 22 games without scoring in the Premier League, Onuachu has now found the net four times in his last nine matches and also provided one assist.

The Super Eagles forward will hope to continue his fine form as Southampton push to improve their league position.
