Sports Festival: Team Akwa Ibom to open zonal qualifiers vs Cross River state
Team Akwa Ibom (male) will open their push for a spot in the football event at the National Sports Festival vs Cross River State on Tuesday October 4 , 2022 , Sportsration reports .
Uyo , the Akwa Ibom State capital is host of the South South elimination for different team sports ahead of the 2022 National Sports Festival .
In the football event (male) , Akwa Ibom State will face neighbors Cross River State by 4pm at the Practice pitch of the Nest of Champions on Tuesday October 4, 2022 .
The Akwa-Cross battle will be preceded by the Bayelsa Vs Edo State game which kicksoff by 2pm at the same venue . Rivers State are drawn bye on Matchday One .
2022 National Sports Festival hosts Delta state are exempted from the Zonal elimination , leaving Akwa Ibom , Cross River , Edo , Bayelsa and Rivers States to battle for the sole qualification ticket from the South South zone .
The South South Zonal elimination is ongoing for different team sports in Uyo and will end on Friday October 7 , 2022 .
Qualified states for each sport at the Zonal elimination will be thus proceed to the National sports festivals in Asaba to lock horns with other zonal winners for national honours .
The 2022 National Sports Festival will take place in Asaba , Delta State from November 28 to December 10 , 2022 .
