Sports Minister urges Super Eagles to beat Sao Tome and Principe as welcome gift for him

Nigeria’s Sports Minister John Enoh has urged the Super Eagles to beat Sao Tome and Principe as welcome gift for him.

The recently appointed Minister of Sports Development made this appeal when he met with Nigeria Football Federation officials in Abuja.

It was at the meeting on Saturday September 2 that the decision to renew Jose Peseiro’s contract as Super Eagles Head Coach was reached.

The Portuguese gaffer will take charge of the team for this weekends match at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, a dead rubber game because the Eagles had already secured qualification for the Cup of Nations.

The Sports Minister said ” Even though we are home and dry in the qualifying series, I will be excited if the Super Eagles can beat São Tomé and Principe for the generality of Nigerians, as we celebrate this new phase of our sports”.

The meeting held in Abuja had in attendance, the President of the NFF, Alh. Ibrahim Gusau, 1st Vice President, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi and Legal Counsel Barr. Okey Obi.

Ahead of the match, invited Super Eagles players are expected in camp from today Monday September 4, 2023.

Nigeria spanked Sao Tome and Principe 0-10 in the first leg.
