The 2023 Quadrennial delegate conference/elections of the Akwa Ibom State Referees Council will take place on Friday March 24, 2023.
SportsRation correspondent Nsikakabasi Akpan is vying for the office of Public Relations Officer as members of the Akwa Ibom State Referees Council go to poll on March 24.
Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Referees Council Elder Joseph Bassey is seeking re-election for a second 4-year term, with elections also expected into the offices of Deputy Chairman, Vice Chairman 1/2, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Training Officer, Assistant Training Officer and Welfare Officer.
Same process will take place this weekend across various Council’s of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) in continuation of the process that started with elections at Society level.
The Nigeria Referees Association – NRA is the body in charge of Football Referees in Nigeria. For ease of administration, the Referees body is governed in three stratas, the Association (National), Council (State-level) and Societies (Local Government-level).
The Quadrennial delegate conference will mark the end of this current administration and will be followed immediately with election of officers into various positions in the Akwa Ibom State Referees council.
Purchase and submission of nomination forms by aspirants had since been concluded.
On Friday, representatives of various Referee societies as empowered by relevant sections of the Referees statute will cast vote to elect Council officers for a 4-year term.
The event will take place at the Oron All Stars Club House in Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State by 10.00am on Friday March 24, 2023.
The elections will be conducted by a Nigeria Referees Association designated officer and monitored by representatives of the Football Association in the state.
The conclusion of State Council elections will pave way for elections at the National level where Incumbent President Otunba Tade Azeez will bow out after serving two-terms in office as President of the Nigeria Referees Association – NRA.
