Spurs´ Aldridge cleared to resume play after heart problems
San Antonio Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge has been cleared to resume basketball activities following heart problems and will play against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.
Aldridge suffered what the team called “a mild heart arrhythmia” on March 9.
“We are thankful that LaMarcus will be able to rejoin the team,” general manager RC Buford said in a statement.
“All of us have been impressed with the professionalism and grace he has shown in dealing with this difficult situation.”
According to the release, Aldridge, 31, went through multiple tests and examinations because of the abnormal rhythm before being cleared.
In his 11th NBA season, Aldridge is averaging 17.3 and 7.4 rebounds in 32.6 minutes per game for the Spurs, who at 52-14 enter Wednesday’s matchup a half-game back of the Western Conference-leading Golden State Warriors.
