Spurs trump Raptors, Thomas leads Celtics

The San Antonio Spurs emerged victorious over the Toronto Raptors, while Isaiah Thomas helped the Boston Celtics beat the Utah Jazz.

In a battleĀ of the teams with the second-best records in each NBA conference, the Spurs triumphed 110-82 on Tuesday.

Thomas posted a double-double as the Celtics overcame the Jazz 115-104.

Paul George scored 32 points to lead the Indiana Pacers past the Detroit Pistons 121-116 and the Philadelphia 76ers outlasted the Minnesota Timberwolves 93-91.

 

SPURS STIFLE RAPTORS

Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge helped limit the Raptors to their lowest score of the season.

Leonard scored 25 points and Spurs team-mate Aldridge added 23 pf his own.

The Spurs led by as many as 34 points in the showdown in San Antonio.

DeMar DeRozan had 26 points for the Raptors.

 

THOMAS INSPIRES CELTICS

There is just no stopping Thomas this season.

Thomas put up 29 points and a career-high 15 assists in the home win in Boston.

The Celtics – who have won eight of their past 10 contests – also made 17 three-pointers in back-to-back games.

Utah’s four-game winning streak came to an end.

GEORGE LIFTS PACERS, 76ERS EDGE TIMBERWOLVES

Despite blowing a 15-point first-half lead, George and the Pacers won on the road in Detroit.

Robert Covington’s buzzer-beater downed the Timberwolves in Philadelphia.

Elsewhere, the Sacramento Kings were too good for the Denver Nuggets 120-113, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Washington Wizards 113-105, the Miami Heat lost 99-90 to the Phoenix Suns, while the Los Angeles Lakers topped the Memphis Grizzlies 116-102.

 

STREAKING CAVS AT HOME

Defending champions the Cleveland Cavaliers host the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. The Golden State Warriors face the Portland Trail Blazers and the Oklahoma City Thunder meet the Charlotte Hornets.
