Stanley Nwabali reveals club he would love to play for
Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has openly expressed his admiration for South African football club Kaizer Chiefs, sharing that he dreams of playing for them in the future.
Nwabali, who impressed fans with his performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire, played a key role in leading Nigeria to the final against Ivory Coast.
The 28-year-old kept three clean sheets and delivered several standout performances throughout the tournament, which caught the attention of multiple clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
“To be honest, Kaizer Chiefs is one of the clubs I really want to play for,” Nwabali said. “This is the club I want to play for in South Africa, with all my heart.”
Currently playing for Chippa United, Nwabali explained that while many clubs have shown interest in signing him, some hesitate to meet his transfer fee. “A lot of clubs have come for me, but maybe they’re not willing to pay my worth,” he said, acknowledging the challenges that come with sudden fame.
Despite Nigeria’s narrow 2-1 loss to Ivory Coast in the AFCON final, Nwabali’s impressive performances have sparked rumors of potential moves, especially within South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL). Chippa United has reportedly shown interest in negotiating a transfer, with offers from PSL teams like Kaizer Chiefs being considered for under 8 million Rand.
