Stephen Curry: The GOAT of Skills, Says Steve Kerr and Shaq

Stephen Curry is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in basketball. For fans of the Golden State Warriors and the team itself, especially head coach Steve Kerr, Curry is seen as the best in the game. With support from NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, Kerr is confident in calling Curry the greatest of all time (GOAT) when it comes to skills.

Steve Kerr Agrees with Shaquille O’Neal on the GOAT Debate

Stephen Curry has likely won many games for the Golden State Warriors on his own. His incredible performance over the years with the team has made him their biggest star. So, it’s no surprise that Steve Kerr, the Warriors’ head coach, named Curry as the best player when it comes to skills.

“It’s different; the way he impacts the game is different. When you talk about ‘Who’s the greatest ever?’ you usually think of players like LeBron, Michael Jordan, and Wilt Chamberlain. Steph doesn’t fit that usual mould. I love that Shaq is bringing that up because, from a skills standpoint, it’s not even close. Curry is the greatest ever from a skills standpoint,” said Kerr.

Curry has the same number of NBA championships as LeBron James, another basketball legend, but has achieved this in fewer years on the court. The way he changed the game is one of the reasons his name is so respected in basketball. Both Kerr and Shaq are confident in their praise of Curry because of the huge impact he’s had on the sport.

Shaquille O’Neal Wants Curry in the GOAT Debate

The discussion about Curry’s place in the GOAT conversation grew after Shaquille O’Neal, speaking on NBA on TNT, said that it’s time to give Curry the recognition he deserves for what he’s done for the game.

“I played against Mike, played with Kobe, played against and with LeBron. They’re all great… But at some point, we need to put Steph Curry in that category. I’ve never seen anything like him before, and no one has. And how many [rings] does he have? One, two, three, four, against LeBron. I demand people start putting my guy in that conversation, period,” O’Neal said.

Both Curry and James have won four NBA championships. Neither has surpassed Michael Jordan, who has six championships, but the way Curry is playing right now shows he deserves a place in the GOAT conversation.
