Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez scored a late winner for his side as they marched to the Spanish La Liga title for the first time since the 2013/14 season as his side won 2-1 against relegated Real Valladolid.
Real Valladolid took a shock lead through Oscar Plano before Argentine midfielder Angel Correa drew Atletico level. Luis Suarez scored a 67th winner for the second game running to see Atletico Madrid over the line and confirm them as league champions, despite nearest rivals Real Madrid also securing a late 2-1 come back victory over Villarreal thanks to late strikes from Karim Benzema and Luka Modric.
Atletico Madrid have won their first league title since the 2013/14 season and Luis Suarez scored 21 goals for the side in his first season since a 6 million Euro move from FC Barcelona in the summer. They finished the season on 86 points, two ahead of second-placed Real Madrid.
