Sunday Oliseh names player who deserves 2024 Ballon d’or
Former Super Eagles of Nigeria player and coach Sunday Oliseh has named the player who deserves to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or award.
Sunday Oliseh has tipped Manchester City star Rodri to clinch this year’s Ballon d’Or award, citing the midfielder’s stellar performance at Euro 2024 where he played a pivotal role in Spain’s championship-winning campaign.
Rodri’s standout displays throughout the tournament helped Spain win the European Championship title after securing a 2-1 victory over England in the final. The midfielder was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolade in acknowledgement of his outstanding displays.
Oliseh, who won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 as a player with Nigeria, expressed his confidence in Rodri’s credentials for the prestigious Ballon d’Or, stating, “Do we need to say more? Rodri is in a class of his own.”
The Ballon d’Or ceremony is scheduled for October, where Rodri will be vying for the esteemed award against other top contenders like Spanish teammate Dani Carvajal and Madrid star Vinicius Junior .
