Sunusi makes Montreal Impact switch

Former NPFL goal king, Sunusi Ibrahim, has completed a transfer to MLS side, Montreal Impact on a contract until 2023 with an option for a further year.

The 18 year old shot into prominence when he represented Nasarawa United in the 2018/2019 NPFL season and won the Golden boot with his 10 goals in 22 appearances. The teenager was linked with a move to English Championship side, Watford, but the move fell through as a result of the work permit requirements of English football.

At Montreal Impact, Sunusi will play alongside fellow African and former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama. His new manager will be Arsenal and France legend, Thierry Henry. The club’s sporting director, Olivier Renard stated his joy at having secured the signature of the “fast and powerful striker who can also play on the wings”. The teenager has already played for the Nigerian U-23 side thrice, scoring once.
