Super, Ashleigh Plumptre scores hat-trick on Al Ittihad debut
Ashleigh Plumptre was super as she bagged a hat-trick on her debut for Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad Ladies on Saturday, October 14.
The Super Falcons defender scored all three goals as Al Ittihad defeated Eastern Flames 3-0 in their opening game of the 2023/2024 Saudi Arabian Women’s League.
Plumptre joined Al Ittihad Ladies as a free agent, following the expiration of her contract with English club Leicester City FC.
The Falcon was in hot demand from English clubs, but opted for a fresh challenge in Saudi Arabia with Al Ittihad Ladies.
To underline her importance to Al Ittihad Ladies, Plumptre has been handed responsibilities higher up the field of play, a role she delivered perfectly in the matchday one victory over Eastern Flames.
A member of Nigeria’s Super Falcons squad to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup hosted by Australia/New Zealand, the defender was a standout performer as Randy Waldrum tutored ladies reached the last-8.Â
Meanwhile, Ashleigh Plumptre’s name was conspicuously missing from the 22-player Super Falcons list for the Paris Olympics Qualifier vs Ethiopia, later this month.
On that list is, Omorinsola Babajide who like Plumptre has decided to dish the England to represent the Nigeria Women’s National team.
