Super Eagles arrive in Kigali ahead of 2025 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda

On September 8, 2024, the Super Eagles of Nigeria landed in Kigali, Rwanda, ahead of their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Amavubi of Rwanda.

The Nigerian team, led by captain William Troost-Ekong, touched down at Kigali International Airport after departing from Victor Attah International Airport earlier in the day.

The highly anticipated match is set to take place at the 45,508-seat Amahoro Stadium, Rwanda’s largest sports venue. The Super Eagles will be looking to build on their impressive 3-0 victory over Benin Republic in their opening AFCON qualifier, where Ademola Lookman netted a brace, and Victor Osimhen added another goal with a spectacular finish.

Nigeria’s last visit to Kigali was for a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe, where they had to fight back for a draw. Now, they are focused on securing three points against Rwanda, who earned a 1-1 draw against Libya in their first qualifier.

With key players like Lookman, Osimhen, and Wilfred Ndidi in top form, Nigeria is confident of putting on another dominant performance to edge closer to AFCON 2025 qualification.
