Super Eagles B aim to end Ghana’s dominance in CHAN Qualifiers
Nigeria’s Super Eagles B assistant coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has vowed that his team will end Ghana’s dominance in Saturday’s 2024 CHAN qualifier final return leg.
The crucial match will take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, following a goalless draw in the first leg held in Accra last weekend.
Ghana has often dashed Nigeria’s hopes in qualification campaigns. The Black Galaxies previously denied the Super Eagles B a place in the 2022 CHAN finals in Algeria, continuing a trend of heartbreaks for Nigeria in key encounters.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Ogunmodede expressed confidence in his team’s preparation. He emphasised their determination to rewrite history and secure qualification for next year’s CHAN tournament.
“We’ve carefully studied Ghana’s strengths and noted their reliance on history. This time, we’ve worked hard to ensure history doesn’t repeat itself. Any so-called Ghanaian ‘curse’ must be broken tomorrow. Our main goal is to qualify for CHAN,” Ogunmodede stated.
Victory for the Super Eagles B will secure their place in the 2024 CHAN tournament. However, a loss would extend Ghana’s recent dominance over Nigeria in these qualifiers.
Fans will be hoping the Super Eagles B can deliver a performance that ends Ghana’s hold over them and paves the way for success on the continental stage.
