“Super Eagles B Coach Vows to Work Hard for CHAN 2024 Trophy After Beating Ghana”

Daniel Ogunmodede, coach of the home-based Super Eagles, has promised that his team will work hard to win the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) after securing a 3-1 aggregate victory over Ghana.

The match, held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, ensured Nigeria’s qualification for the CHAN tournament after a six-year absence. The competition, exclusively for players based in their home countries, will take place from February 1 to 28, 2025, across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Speaking after the game, Ogunmodede expressed his joy at the win but emphasised the need to focus on preparing for the tournament.

“We are happy to give Nigerians this gift during the festive season,” he told NFF Media. “However, we won’t over-celebrate. Our focus now is to work hard and compete strongly for the trophy in February.”

Ogunmodede, who also manages Remo Stars, made history by leading the Super Eagles B team back to CHAN after missing out on the last two editions.

Nigeria has yet to win the CHAN trophy. The team finished third in 2014 in South Africa and were runners-up in 2018, losing 4-0 to Morocco in the final.

The 2024 CHAN tournament will be the first to be hosted by three countries, and Ogunmodede’s side will aim to make history by clinching their first title.
