The Nigeria national football team has risen to 26th place in the latest FIFA World Rankings, a jump of 12 places following their performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Nigeria was previously ranked 38th before the update. The rise is largely attributed to their third-place finish at AFCON, where the Super Eagles reached the semifinals before defeating Egypt in the playoff to secure the bronze medal.
Nigeria’s new place on the list also positions them among the top African teams globally. As of the latest rankings, Morocco and Senegal remain the two highest-ranked African teams. Nigeria currently sits just behind them, making the Super Eagles one of the top three African nations in the FIFA standings.
FIFA rankings are updated periodically throughout the year based on competitive matches and friendly matches. The next update is scheduled for April 2026, meaning Nigeria’s position is not fixed and could change based on future results.
