Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem close to Panathinaikos transfer
Super Eagles defender, Chidozie Awaziem is close to a permanent transfer from Boavista to Greek club, Panathinaikos.
One of Nigeria’s most-travelled players, Awaziem spent last season on loan at Croatian club, Hajduk Split from Portuguese club, Boavista.
The 26-year-old Super Eagle made 36 appearances for Hajduk Split, scoring five goals and assisting one other during a fruitful spell.
A permanent stay was not on the players thoughts and so he left Split at the expiration of his loan transfer. Awaziem will not stay at Boavista either with concrete interest from Greece.
According to Greek news outlet, Dalmatinski, the versatile defender is Panathinaikos’ top choice to reinforce their defence for the new season.
Awaziem is said to be excited about the Panathinaikos move which will afford him the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
With two years remaining on his contract with Boavista, the Portuguese side will have to accept the proposal from Panathinaikos before the Nigerian defender signs a contract.
