Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi sends message to Angola ahead of AFCON quater-final meeting
The Super Eagles defeated Cameroon 2-0 on Saturday, and Semi Ajayi is already looking forward to the quater-final clash vs Angola.
Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi says that the Nigeria national team will give everything to get victory when they play Angola in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ajayi was in action for Nigeria in the 2-0 win over Cameroon in the round of 16 of the AFCON on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
That victory means Nigeria’s next challenge is vs Angola in the quarter-finals of the competition.
The Palancas Negras themselves have been good so far in the competition.
Angola defeated Namibia 3-0 in the AFCON round of 16.
Ahead of the game against Angola, Ajayi, who has been a steady feature in the Super Eagles’ defence, has stated that the team will not lose focus despite their progress at the AFCON.
“The focus turns towards Friday and towards the next game. This game is done, and now we put our full focus towards Friday,” Ajayi said
“The boys are hungry, we are looking to give our all, and we are really looking forward to the game.
So, now we’ll start to study our opponents, start to analyze how they play and form our game plan. Hopefully, that will get us the win on Friday.”
On paper, Nigeria are favourites to reach the last-4,however, the ongoing AFCON has proven to be full of surprises reason Angola will dream of securing a win vs the star-studded Eagles on Febuary 2, 2024 in Abidjan.
