Super Eagles drop one spot in latest FIFA ranking
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have maintained their spot in world football, according to the latest FIFA rankings. SportsRation reports.
Currently, Nigeria is ranked 39th in the world, down one place from their previous position, but still among the top-ranked teams in Africa.
In the latest FIFA rankings, the Super Eagles, who are currently without a manager following Finidi George’s resignation, are ranked 39th globally. This slight drop can be attributed to their recent World Cup qualifiers, where they drew 1-1 with South Africa and suffered a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic.
On the African continent, Nigeria ranks fifth. The top team is Morocco, positioned 14th in the world, followed by Senegal (19th), Egypt (36th), and Ivory Coast (38th). Tunisia, Algeria, Cameroon, Mali, and South Africa round out the top ten African teams.
Globally, Argentina remains the top team after winning the 2024 Copa America, followed by France. Spain has moved up five places to third after their EURO 2024 victory, while England is now fourth. Brazil completes the top five, despite their quarterfinal exit in the Copa America.
