Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie says goodbye to Insurance after move to Ethiopian club Fasil Kenema FC
Former Bendel Insurance goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has signed a two-year deal with Ethiopian Premier League side Fasil Kenema FC, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his football career.
The move comes shortly after Obasogie received a call-up to the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Obasogie, who has been a standout performer for Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), expressed his emotions in a heartfelt farewell message to the club, reflecting on his journey and the bonds he formed during his time with the team.
“As I bid farewell to my darling team, Bendel Insurance, my heart is heavy, but my soul is filled with so much gratitude,” Obasogie wrote. “From my days as a young player to joining the team, a rare opportunity was given to a boy to showcase his talent.”
He continued by acknowledging the difficulty of his decision to move to Ethiopia, emphasizing the lasting impact of the memories and relationships he built at Bendel Insurance. “It was a hard decision to take on this new challenge because of all the memories we have shared, which will stay with me forever.”
Obasogie expressed deep appreciation for his teammates, coaches, and the entire Bendel Insurance community, crediting them for his development as a player. “I want to thank all my teammates for their unwavering support; you never left me alone on the battlefield; it’s because of you that this has happened.”
He also extended his gratitude to the coaching staff, media team, kit managers, security personnel, chefs, and executives, as well as the fans of Bendel Insurance. “Your love and support throughout my stay helped me get better. I love you all as I love myself.”
Concluding his message, Obasogie emphasized that his departure is not a final goodbye but a temporary farewell. “Goodbyes are hard, but this is a see-you-later. ONCE BENDEL, ALWAYS BENDEL.”
