Super Eagles hopeful Olise joins Crystal Palace from Reading
Teenage sensation signs five year deal with South London side
Nigerian-born midfielder Michael Olise has today completed a move from the English Championship with Reading FC to English Premier League side Crystal Palace for a reported £8 million, making him the first signing of the Patrick Vieira era.
The 19-year-old fleet-footed midfielder takes the vacant number 7 jersey at Selhurst Park. He can operate through the middle or from the flanks, and has demonstrated maturity beyond his years in breaking through the Reading first team and becoming an integral part of the system at Reading. He joins Crystal Palace on a five-year deal, hoping to mirror the success of fellow Nigerian-born midfielder Eberechi Eze who moved to the Eagles from Championship QPR last summer.
The new Crystal Palace addition has a list of countries looking to add him to their national sides due to his eligibility for France, England, Nigeria and Algeria. He was placed on the Standby list by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr ahead of the final two AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho earlier this year.
