Super Eagles new-boy Igoh Ogbu Suffers Injury, Set for MRI Scan

Super Eagles of Nigeria and Slavia Prague defender Igoh Ogbu could be sidelined for weeks after suffering a suspected adductor muscle tear in his groin, according to coach Jindrich Trpisovsky.

Ogbu, who recently received his first Super Eagles call-up for World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, did not feature in either match. Upon returning to his club, he was left out of Slavia Prague’s squad for their league game against FK Dukla Prague on Saturday due to physical issues.

Slavia Prague’s Chairman, Jaroslav Tvrdik, confirmed that the Nigerian defender is facing a spell on the sidelines.

Speaking after Slavia’s draw against Dukla Prague, coach Trpisovsky revealed that Ogbu will undergo an MRI scan to determine the severity of his injury.

“I don’t have a detailed report yet; he is going to have an MRI,” Trpisovsky told the club’s official website.

The coach fears the 25-year-old could be dealing with a muscle tear, an injury that may take weeks to heal.

“The first predictions suggest a tear in the adductor muscle in the groin. He had a similar injury before and recovered in half the expected time. We will know more after the examination.”

Ogbu has been a key player in Slavia Prague’s defence this season, contributing to sixteen clean sheets in all competitions. His absence could be a major setback for the Czech club.

Further updates on his recovery timeline will be provided once the MRI results are available.
