Super Eagles New-boy Otele Sent Off as Hamburg Fall 3-1 to Werder Bremen

Philip Otele had a difficult outing as Hamburger SV lost 3-1 to Werder Bremen in their Bundesliga Round 30 match on Saturday.
The Super Eagles forward came on in the second half as Hamburg tried to get back into the game. However, his afternoon ended badly when he was shown a straight red card in the 79th minute after a VAR review.
Referee Florian Exner initially allowed play to continue, but he was later asked to check the incident again on the pitchside monitor. After watching the replay, he changed his decision and sent Otele off for dangerous play.
At the time of the red card, Hamburg were already trailing 2-1. Jens Stage had scored twice for Werder Bremen, finding the net in the 37th and 57th minutes. Robert Glatzel had earlier equalised for Hamburg before half-time to keep the match close.
Otele’s dismissal made things harder for Hamburg, as they were forced to play the final minutes with ten men. The team struggled to create chances and lost control of the game in the closing stages.
Werder Bremen took full advantage of the extra man, with Cameron Puertas scoring in stoppage time to seal a 3-1 victory.
It was a frustrating day for Otele, whose game ended early. The Nigerian forward is now expected to miss upcoming matches due to suspension, which is a setback for Hamburg as they continue their league campaign.
