Super Eagles Star Joe Aribo Reveals Weak and Strong Points Following Action Packed Season.
Super Eagles Midfielder Joe Aribo played more games than any other player in the world last season. In a chat with BBC Africa, Joe Aribo speaks on his weakness, strength and reaction to this achievement .
The Glasgow Rangers Midfielder played 57 times at club level plus 13 with the Nigerian National team to sum 70 appearances the most in the world.
Reacting to questions on his record breaking feat Aribo said “Funnily enough I was always this shy player with doubts in my own ability,”
“But now I have self-belief, because I have the right people around me to give me that confidence to say ‘Yes, you’re the man that’s going to take on the game and change the game’.
“Some people like to take centre stage in everything they do in life, but I prefer to stay in the background and let others talk about my performance on the pitch.
“I honestly didn’t know I have played more games this season than any other player out there. I feel very happy to hear that.
“I also have got the strength from God – I know I can keep going whenever I feel tired.” He concluded.
Joe Aribo started both 2023 AFCON Qualifiers for Nigeria vs Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe and never showed signs of weakness as he pulled the strings excellently well alongside Alex Iwobi in the middle of the pack to help the Eagles to Victory on both occasions.
The Midfielder who is currently on holiday has attracted interest from Aston Villa and two yet to be identified clubs but last week committed his future to Rangers where he is adored ”
