Super Eagles star turns down chance to remain at Turkish club, as Premier League opportunity beacons
Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel could leave Fenerbahce after rejecting the club’s latest contract offer, reports suggest.
The 26-year-old joined Fenerbahce from Queens Park Rangers in 2021 and has become a key player for the Turkish giants. However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, the club is struggling to secure a renewal.
Fenerbahce reportedly offered Osayi-Samuel a new deal worth €2.5 million annually (about €48,000 per week), but the player is said to be holding out for €3.5 million per year (close to €70,000 weekly).
The club, which finished second in the Turkish Super Lig last season, is eager to keep the Nigerian star beyond this campaign. But if an agreement isn’t reached soon, they may be forced to sell him in January to avoid losing him for free next summer.
Reports from Turkey indicate that Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are monitoring Osayi-Samuel’s situation, hoping to lure him back to England.
Fenerbahce remain hopeful of convincing the Nigerian international to stay but are aware that time is running out.
Osayi-Samuel’s future now hangs in the balance, with both the player and club facing a key decision in the coming months.
