Super Eagles to know AFCON group stage opponents on October 12, drawn in Pot 2
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will know their opponents for the group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations – AFCON when the draws are made on October 12.
This is according to announcement by the Confederation of African Football – CAF which also revealed the Super Eagles are drawn in Pot 2, alongside Mali, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Ghana, and D.R. Congo.
Nigeria will meet one of Pot One occupants, defending champions Senegal, hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Morocco, Algeria and Egypt in the group stage.
Pot 3 houses, South Africa, Cape Verde, Guinea, 2012 AFCON Champions – Zambia, two-time AFCON hosts – Equatorial Guinea, and Mauritania.
2010 AFCON hosts, Angola were drawn in Pot 4, alongside Guinea Bissau, Namibia, Mozambique, Gambia, and Namibia.
The draw ceremony will be held in Cote d’Ivoire, on October 12, 2023 , while the tournament will run kickoff on January 13 through to February 11, 2024.
Nigeria will be gunning for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title, when Africa’s most prestigious football tournament gets underway in Cote D’Ivoire.
