Super Eagles to Play Three Friendlies in June 2025 as NSC Backs World Cup Qualification Push
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has confirmed that the Super Eagles will participate in a training camp and three friendly matches during the June 2025 international window. The aim is to fine-tune the squad ahead of the crucial FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers resuming in September.
NSC backs Super Eagles’ World Cup qualification hopes
NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko reassured fans that Nigeria is still in contention for World Cup qualification despite recent setbacks.
“Winning the next four games could secure our place at the World Cup,” Dikko said on X. “Everything is still in play, and the team will stay focused until the very end.”
To support this goal, the NSC and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have agreed on a revised bonus structure for the remaining six qualifiers. Payments for the recent Rwanda match were settled as planned, while the Zimbabwe match bonuses were paid before the game.
Stability and preparation ahead of crucial fixtures
Dikko emphasised that the new payment structure has improved team morale and eliminated distractions.
“The players have shown their commitment, and their performances prove they are determined to qualify,” he added.
The June 2025 friendlies will allow the coaching staff to refine tactics and strengthen the squad before the decisive qualifiers.
With financial backing, strategic planning, and renewed focus, Nigeria is set to push hard for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
