Super Eagles Vice-Captain William Troost-Ekong has assured Nigerians the team is ready to make them proud vs Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday September 10.
Nigeria take on the True Patriots of Sao Tome and Principe in a final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game on Sunday September 10 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Speaking at the pre-match conference on Saturday September 9, POAK defender Ekong said the team is serious despite having already qualified for the AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Ekong said ” We are taking the game serious and not thinking about the fact that we have already qualified for the AFCON,”the vice-captain told a press conference on Saturday.
” If you see the boys in training, everyone has worked really hard, not thinking about whether we have qualified or not.
“We want to make the fans happy by putting up a good performance on Sunday. Uyo has always been a good ground for us. We had a good run here during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
” You can be sure we will do our best to make Nigerians proud.” he said.
