‘ Super Eagles will be ready for 2023 AFCON ‘ – Bruno Onyeamachi
Boavista of Portugal defender, Bruno Onyeamachi says the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be ready to compete for the title when the 2023 AFCON gets underway in Ivory Coast.
All things being equal, Bruno Onyeamachi should make the Super Eagles squad for the Nations Cup.
In January 2024, Nigeria will join 23 other African countries for the Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast
Recall that the Super Eagles of Nigeria are drawn in group A alongside, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau .
Three-time Champions, Nigeria will face Equatorial Guinea in their first game on January 14, 2024 before taking on tournament hosts, Ivory Coast and then Guinea Bissau to end the group stage.
In an interview after Nigeria defeated Mozambique 3-2 to end a 15-game International Friendly winless streak, Boavista defender, Bruno Onyeamachi said he has confidence in the current Super Eagles squad to win a fourth AFCON title.
The Super Eagles left-back told Complete Sports; ” You can’t predict football, things are getting tougher everyday. There are no small countries again . I believe in the team, if we keep focus and maintain positivity in camp, then we can win the trophy,”
“We are moving in the right direction at the moment, we have won three of our last four games which is good for our confidence.
“I believe we will be ready to compete and give our best in Cote d’Ivoire next year.”
Recently, Onyeamachi has been a Super Eagles starter at left-back, and was one of the teams standout performer in the International Friendly matches vs Saudi Arabia and Mozambique.
