Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke suffers relegation with Hertha
Nigeria Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke has suffered relegation from the German Bundesliga with his club Hertha Berlin.
This followed a 1-1 draw at home to Bochum on Saturday May 20, 2023.
Ejuke and his teammates came into the game vs Bochum eyeing a win to keep their slim survival hopes alive but a dramatic late equalizer by the visitors and a 2-2 draw between Schalke and Eintract Frankfurt confirmed their demotion.
20th and destined for the second tier next season, Tousart fired Hertha Berlin in front at the Olympiastadion in the 63rd minute.
Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke was introduced from the bench two minutes after the goal but his efforts wasn`t enough to help Hertha double the lead.
With few seconds to the end, Bochum struck through Keven Schlotterbeck`s powerful header to level scores.
The 1-1 result means Hertha Berlin are mathematically confirmed for the drop with a game to the end of the 2022/2023 season.
Ejuke is currently on a season-long loan at the German club from Russian side CSKA Moscow but has had limited appearances in Germany due to a long-term injury.
As it stands, the 25-year old dribbling wizard will head back to Russia where he has a year on his current contract.
