Super Falcons boycott training ahead of third-place match over unpaid bonuses

Super Falcons of Nigeria have reportedly boycotted training this morning over their unpaid bonuses according to reports.

The 9-time champions who made the country proud despite falling short in their semifinal game against Morocco are said to be protesting their unpaid bonuses.

According to BBC World Football reporter Osasu Obayiuwana, the players who on June 19th through an NFF executive member talked about their unpaid bonuses.

Osasu reported on June 19th how he was contacted by an NFF exco member who complained about the non-payment of the players’ bonuses.

“The players have not received one penny of the bonuses due to them at this tournament. The Federal Ministry Of Youth And Sports Development has not given us a dime for them.

“The minister, Sunday Dare has not said a word to us. The girls have not complained and have given everything here.

“No one should take these girls for granted, even though they have not complained. No one should be surprised when there is a strong reaction. These girls know their rights & they won’t take this for too long. The right thing should be done before they react,” the person said to Osasu.

Although the players didn’t complain or protested back in June, they are now asking questions ahead of their third-place match on Friday.

The Super Falcons will play for the Bronze medal against Zambia on Friday at 9 pm Nigeria time.
