Super Falcons Captain Rasheedat Ajibade confident ahead of 2024 Olympic Games
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has expressed the team’s readiness to compete against top teams at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Nigeria’s women’s team is drawn in Group C alongside reigning world champions Spain, Brazil, and former world champions Japan.
Despite being the lowest-ranked team in the group, Ajibade remains optimistic.
“We’re ready for the Olympics,” Ajibade stated after the team’s friendly match against Canada on Wednesday.
“We will give it our best shot. We must be ready to compete with the best teams irrespective of the big names. We have the talent and the quality. We have to trust in what we have.”
Ajibade highlighted the team’s past performances, saying, “We did this at the World Cup last year, where we faced amazing teams like Australia, co-hosts, Ireland, and England. We have what it takes to be at the top.”
Nigeria fell to a 0-1loss against Canada in the friendly match on Wednesday in Seville, Spain. The team will fly into France today, to begin final preparations for the games.
The Super Falcons will kick off their Olympic campaign against Brazil at the Stade Bordeaux next Thursday.
