Super Falcons Coach Madugu Delighted to Reach WAFCON Final

Head coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Justin Madugu, has expressed his joy after guiding his team to the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they will face host nation Morocco.

Madugu, who took charge of the team following the departure of former coach Randy Waldrum, was given the task of leading the Falcons to achieve “Mission X” – winning the WAFCON title. The team is now just one game away from lifting the trophy after securing a late 1-0 victory over South Africa in the semi-final.

“Yes, it was a tough game, no doubts about that. Everyone knew it wasn’t going to be an easy match,” the 61-year-old said during his post-match press conference. “At the end of it all, what we desired was to win, and eventually that happened. We are happy to be in the final.

“We came here with the ambition to win the trophy, and we’re happy we’re on course for Mission X.”

The Super Falcons will face Morocco on Saturday at the Stade Olympique de Rabat, with the match kicking off at 21:00 WAT.

Nigeria have been impressive throughout the tournament, winning four of their five matches and keeping four clean sheets.
