Super Falcons drop massively in latest FIFA Rankings

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have dropped massively in the latest FIFA Rankings after a poor outing at the 2022 WAFCON.

Super Falcons set out to claim their 10th WAFCON title in Morocco but it was not to be as they fell to three defeats in their attempt.

A loss in the group stages game against South Africa meant they finished second in the group and a potential clash against the hosts nation, Morocco along the way.

Nigeria defeated Cameroon in the quarterfinal but lost to Morocco in the semis after playing for more than 50 minutes with only 9 players.

They were also defeated in the third place match against Zambia, hence, missing out on the podium place for the first time ever.

These events have resulted in the team slumping from 39th in the world to 47th in the world according to the latest release by FIFA.

Super Falcons dropped a point total of 69.33 between the last rankings on June 17th and the latest rankings put out 5th August.

Despite the drop in global rankings, Nigeria remained number one in Africa, South Africa are now second having moved from 58th in the world to 54th.
