Super Falcons Face Tough Group at 2024 WAFCON
Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set to compete in a challenging Group B at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to take place in Morocco from 5 to 26 July 2025.
The group draw, held at the Technical Centre of the Mohamed VI Football Complex in Sale, placed the Falcons alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.
Group B Opponents
Tunisia: Known for their strong performance, Tunisia reached the quarter-finals in the last WAFCON and will be a tough contender.
Algeria: The Falcons recently showed their superiority over Algeria, defeating them 2-0 and 4-1 in friendly matches. They will hope to maintain this form.
Botswana: Botswana impressed in the qualifiers by knocking out Gabon and could pose a surprise challenge.
Nigeria’s WAFCON History
The Super Falcons have participated in every edition of WAFCON since it began in 1998 and have won the tournament nine times. However, they finished fourth in the last edition after losing to Zambia in the bronze medal match.

- Group A: Hosts Morocco will face Zambia, Senegal, and DR Congo.
- Group C: Defending champions South Africa are drawn with Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania.
