Super Falcons star Ashleigh Plumptre on the road to recovery
According to a recent update, Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre is on the road to recovery after sustaining an injury and a successful operation.
Ashleigh Plumptre, who plays for Al Ittihad, was unable to join the Nigeria Super Falcons squad for the final round of Olympic qualifiers against South Africa’s Banyana Banyana due to her injury.
However, the 25-year-old took to her social media page to inform her followers that she has successfully undergone surgery on her right foot and is now concentrating on recuperating fully.
In a post, she expressed gratitude to her club, Al-Ittihad, and Dr. Pieter D’Hooge for their support during her surgery.
She also thanked her Super Falcons teammates and Nigerian fans for their patience and understanding during her absence. Plumptre shared her eagerness to return to full fitness and rejoin her teammates.
“Surgery done. Thank you to everyone at Al-Ittihad and to Dr. Pieter D’Hooge for supporting me through my first surgery. It’s been a long time coming trying to get answers, but I’m so grateful to now be at this stage.
” To my Super Falcons teammates and Nigerian fans, thank you for your patience and understanding when I’ve not been able to be with you. I can honestly say I have fought as hard and for as long as I can with this pain. I can’t wait to be back healthy with you all,” she shared on her social media page.
Recent updates from the former Leicester City women’s player show her taking her initial steps toward recovery. She has been pictured hitting the gym and participating in exercises to aid her rehabilitation.
While there is no official announcement yet regarding the Nigerian women’s team selection for the tournament, Plumptre’s progress in her recovery suggests that she may be available to make the team for the games in Paris.
