Super Falcons star Gift Monday Nominated for February’s Liga F Player of the Month Award
Nigeria’s Super Falcons forward, Gift Monday, has been nominated for the Spanish Liga F Player of the Month award for February following her impressive performances for UD Tenerife.
The 23-year-old forward has played a key role in Tenerife’s rise to sixth place in the league, scoring 10 goals in 17 matches this season. In February, she added more goals to her tally, scoring in important wins against Sevilla and Valencia.
Monday’s nomination places her among the top contenders for the monthly award, with other strong candidates including Real Madrid’s Alba Redondo, Barcelona’s Caroline Hansen, Deportivo La Coruña’s Ainhoa Marin, and more.
Now in her third season with Tenerife, Monday has become one of Liga F’s most dangerous forwards. She was also on a brilliant scoring streak earlier this season, netting in six consecutive matches between December and January. That run included goals against top teams like Barcelona, Deportivo, Granada, and Madrid.
Her goal-scoring form has placed her third in the Liga F top scorers’ chart, behind Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor (15 goals) and Granada’s Edna Imade (12 goals). Monday’s tally this season already surpasses her total goals from her first two seasons in Spain, where she scored six goals in 28 appearances last season and three goals in her first campaign.
In addition to her league success, Monday also impressed in the Copa de la Reina, scoring two goals in two matches before Tenerife were eliminated by Barcelona.
On the international stage, Monday is still waiting for her first competitive goal for the Super Falcons. However, she did score in a friendly against Algeria in October, helping Nigeria secure a dominant 4-1 win.
Monday’s continued form has made her one of the most exciting talents in Spanish women’s football, and her nomination for Player of the Month is a recognition of her outstanding contributions to Tenerife’s season.
